I found one program that could convert bitmaps to truetype, but the only way I could get it to correctly trace the bitmaps was to size the 16*32 characters up to about 480*960 (with nearest neighbor scaling) and in the pogram they would only display properly at about size 48 (I need the size to be around the actual bitmap size at resolution 1280*1024). I only need the font to exist at one size, no bold/italics/underline/strike/sub/super/etc just a simple plain font that displays the bitmaps. I even looked on for the font file format but the only one there is a windows 3.0 format that isn't the same as the *.FON files in the font directory (they seem to be programs.?) I have a set of bitmaps (all capital letters, digits, some punctuation, and a few 'symbols' I'd like to map to punctuation I don't have) that I need to turn into a font exactly and I'm having a hard time doing it. I've found a few win3.1 programs that do, but they don't work on Win2000 (all work machines are 2k) or the fonts they generate do not. Does anybody know of a free program(meaning I can use the font in a commercial project without having to pay for the program or distribute the font etc - see NOTE) that runs on windows and allows the creation of *.FON files?
